La Herradura Boots is our own house line, made to our specifications and sold only through our stores and this site. Seventy-seven styles built around Mexican bootmaking tradition, cut mostly in square toe, and available in a range of leathers that runs from everyday cowhide up to genuine caiman.
The line spans $179.99 for a piton clon square toe to $689.99 for premium caiman, with the Ranchera exotic series sitting in the middle at $379.99 to $549.99. Orders over $200 ship free, and every pair can be tried on at our Selma, NC and Columbia, SC stores.
The Leathers We Use
Python is the most requested exotic in the line, recognizable by its scale pattern and available in nubuck, antique two tone, cappuccino and shine finishes. Our Ranchera python runs $379.99 and the premium python sits at $429.99.
Caiman is the dressiest leather we carry, with the distinct raised tile pattern along the belly. It is the most expensive skin in the collection at $689.99 in chocolate and ice coffee, and it is the boot most men buy for a wedding or a milestone.
Fish leather, sold here as pescado or pez, has a fine even grain and takes color beautifully. It is the largest exotic group in the collection with eighteen styles, priced from $189.99 in the clon versions up to $609.99 for premium.
Pirarucu, also called arapaima, comes from a large Amazonian fish and produces a bold overlapping scale pattern. Our Daniel pirarucu styles are among the best value in the line at $239.99.
Ostrich is the traditional quill pattern, soft, flexible and long wearing, offered in mahogany, tan, black and orix tan from $480.00 to $549.99.
Cowhide, or pelo de vaca, keeps the natural hair on the hide, which means no two pairs are identical. Black and white, brown and white, pelo pinto and pelo tigre, all at $249.99.

Building the Look
A La Herradura boot in caiman or python pairs naturally with a rancher saco and a felt hat. For everyday, a cowhide or piton clon works with a Cinch or Wrangler jean and an Ariat shirt. Match your belt to the boot leather where you can, since an exotic boot with a matching exotic belt is the traditional pairing, and finish with a Montana buckle. We carry the same line for women and kids.
Sizing and Fit
Most of this line is cut in EE width, which is wider than the standard D you find on American brands. If you normally wear a D width, you may want to go down a half size. If you have a wide foot, EE is the reason this line fits well without breaking in.
A cowboy boot should slip on with some resistance and the heel should lift slightly when you walk, about a quarter inch. That lift disappears as the sole flexes. The instep is what holds the boot on, not the heel, so if the instep feels snug at first that is correct. Exotic leathers like caiman and ostrich stretch less than cowhide, so buy those closer to your true size.

Care
Wipe dust off after each wear with a soft dry cloth. Cowhide takes standard leather conditioner. Exotic skins should be treated with a conditioner made for that skin, since regular boot polish can clog the scale pattern on python and caiman and dull the quills on ostrich. Never dry wet boots near a heater. Use cedar boot trees or stuff the shafts so they hold shape. We stock boot cleaners and care products in store and online.
