Affordable Western Boots | Rockem Imitation Exotic
Affordable Western Boots: Imitation Exotic Styles
Not everyone wants to spend six hundred dollars on a boot, and not every occasion calls for it. This collection is our budget range, eighty-two styles built to give you the exotic look at a working price, with Rockem accounting for most of the line. Prices run from $49.99 up to $239.99, with the bulk of the collection sitting at $179.99.
Orders over $200 ship free, and every pair can be tried on at our Selma, NC and Columbia, SC stores.
What Imitation Actually Means Here
We will be straight with you, because it matters. These boots use printed or embossed leather that reproduces the pattern of python, fish, ostrich and caiman. The pattern is applied, not grown. They are not genuine exotic skins and we do not sell them as such.
What they are is a real boot at a real price. If you want a pair for work, for a first western boot, for a teenager who is still growing, or for the kind of night where you would rather not risk a $600 caiman, this is the right shelf. If you want the genuine skin, our La Herradura and Cuadra lines are where to go, and we will tell you so in the store.
The Patterns
Python, or piton, is the most common in this collection with twenty-seven styles. It comes in matte and shine finishes, in mega and jumbo scale, and in clon and rayado variations. Matte black with a red bottom is the best seller. Fish, or pez, has a finer and more even pattern and reads dressier than python at the same price, and the Mar y Tierra series with its rustic finish is the most requested. Ostrich reproduces the quill pattern and works well in the brown and white ranch finishes. Caiman, sold here as fuscus, gives you the tile pattern at a fraction of the real thing.
The Rockem Line
Rockem builds fifty-nine of the eighty-two styles here and they are the reason this collection works. Their construction is a genuine welted boot, not a glued shoe, which is why these hold up longer than the price suggests. Most come in square toe, which is the dominant shape right now, with red bottom soles on the newer styles and Mexican tube shafts on the traditional cuts. How Long Will They Last
Honest answer: less time than a genuine exotic, more time than you would expect at this price. The printed pattern will show wear on the crease points before the leather fails. With regular conditioning and a rotation so you are not wearing the same pair daily, two to four years of steady use is realistic. A genuine caiman with the same care lasts a decade or more, and that is the difference you are paying for.
Building the Look
These work exactly like any other western boot. Pair with a Cinch or Wrangler jean over the shaft, an Ariat shirt, and a leather belt that matches the boot tone. Add a felt hat or a Lost Calf cap depending on the occasion. If you are pairing an imitation python boot with a belt, keep the belt plain rather than trying to match the pattern.
Sizing and Care
Rockem follows Mexican sizing, which typically runs about a half size smaller than American. If you wear a 9 in an American brand, try a 9.5. Most of the line is square toe with generous room across the toes.
Wipe dust after each wear. Use a standard leather conditioner, since these are leather underneath the print. Do not use an exotic skin conditioner, it is formulated for scales that these boots do not have. Never dry them near heat, that is what lifts the printed finish. We stock boot care products in store and online. Call Selma at (919) 351-0295 or Columbia at (910) 596-7393 for sizing help.
